Match 04
20th September 1911
Southern Charity Cup Round 1
Swindon (Home)

Wednesday, September 20th 1911. Southern Charity Cup-tie,
at Exeter.

EXETER CITY 2 SWINDON TOWN 0.

In the Charity cup-tie at St. James's Park, the first half had few exciting incidents, but in the second there was an abundance of fast play. Swindon were unfortunate to lose Jefferson 15 minutes after the restart, and they were quite unable to prevent continuous aggression by the Grecians, who improved considerably upon their first half display.
Watson opened the score from Whittaker's centre, and five minutes before the end the City skipper went through cleverly on his own and beat Skiller again. This goal was, in fact, a replica of the one he scored against Luton on Saturday. By their victory the City now enter the second round of the
Cup for the first time.

Exeter:- Walt. Whittaker; Evans, Coates; Bassett, Pratt, Prideaux; E. Whittaker, Watson, Rutter, Lockett, Garside.

Swindon: Skiller; Kay, Tout; Handley, Bannister, Silto; Jefferson, Fleming, Wheat croft, Bown, Bolland.
