City beat championship side Ipswich at SJP in Round I of the EFL cup, 4-2 on penalties after the sides finished tied at 1-1 at full time. City's reward was a 2nd round tie at Craven Cottage against Premiership newcomers Fulham. Kayden Jackson's first half goal was cancelled out by Troy Brown's header after the break before Lee Martin netted the decisive penalty to send the Grecians into the next round.
